COMMUNITY EMERGENCY RESPONSE
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program helps train people
to be better prepared to respond to emergency situations in their
communities. When emergencies happen, CERT members can give critical
support to first responders, provide immediate assistance to victims,
and organize spontaneous volunteers at a disaster site. CERT members can
also help with non-emergency projects that help improve the safety of
the community.

You may need to survive on your own after an emergency. This means having your own food, water, and other supplies in sufficient quantity to last for at least three days. Local officials and relief workers will be on the scene after a disaster, but they cannot reach everyone immediately.

If you're in the market for a good knife, I highly recommend ESEE. Not only do they make excellent knives, they're good people. I support the "good guys" any time I can. It's important.
If you'll "mouse over" the Survival/Adventure/E&E heading on their site there is a drop down menu where you'll find free printable field guides. Mad props to the ESEE guys.

EMERGENCY ESSENTIALS
Great site to order your supplies. Normally I wouldn't suggest or promote a particular site and would let you find your own. But, I've made several orders here as well as friends have and they offer great service with reasonable shipping rates and their prices are inline with anywhere else. And for the record, I have no affiliation with that site and nothing to gain from linking to them.
