On this page are my EDC (Every Day Carry) items and what's in my GHB (Get Home Bag.)
A GHB should be set up to get you home if the SHTF while you're at work, school, etc. It should be light and contain just what's needed to get you home to your BOB or to bug in there. Everybody's GHB list will vary obviously due to things such as how far your job is from where you live. Or if you need special meds. There's tons of variables. This is just what I feel will work for me to get home in less than one day...

EDC items:
.45 handgun with concealed holster, sunglasses, phone charger, Bic lighter, cell phone, knife and keys.
GHB kept in my vehicle:
For my GHB I chose a simple, cheap bag. In my opinion you want a bag to "blend in." During the onset of a SHTF situation you don't want to stand out. All you're trying to do is get home to your bug in location or your BOB. A GHB doesn't have to be a $200 bag. It doesn't have to be field tested by the USMC to last fiddy years. All it's got to do is last a day or maybe two of carrying, keep you under the radar, and get you home.
Stored in the bottom left side pocket is a 16oz. water bottle containing:
A couple #2 coffee filters, spare loaded handgun magazine, water tablets, Bic wrapped with duct tape, hand sanitizers, Coleman water purification tablets, Krazy Glue and Imodium.
I can't stress enough to keep some Imodium. It'll suck if the SHTF. It'll suck even more if you actually have the shits.
Stored in the bottom right side pocket for quick access:
Loaded handgun magazine, spare CR123 batteries, and a Streamlight TLR-1 with a quarter taped to it (explained with the last picture.)

Stored in the top outside pocket:
Emergency blanket, zipties, 50' of paracord and a sillcock key.
Again, a sillcock key is one item I can't stress the importance enough to spend a few bucks to have.

The reason there is a quarter taped to the light is because that is the only tool required to mount that model of light to the rail of a gun.
I am not a proponent of using a light inside your own home for self-defense, but having a gun mounted to my light walking home in the dark if the SHTF would make me feels tons mo' bettah.
